Former Intel fab manager named as President of First Solar

A member of the First Solar Board of Directors since 2003, Bruce Sohn has officially joined the company in the position of President.  Sohn will report to CEO Mike Ahearn and his past experience with Intel will aid in his new responsibilities as President.   Sohn’s 24-year tenure at Intel saw him playing a vital role in the start-up team of five fabs, acting as program manager for the company’s conversion to 300mm wafers and managing two of Intel’s largest fabs, including Fab 11X.  His experience has led to his being invited to guest lecture at Stanford and MIT.  Sohn is a senior member of the IEEE, and he has a degree in materials science and engineering from MIT.

A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
