Inverter manufacturer Fronius is to take advantage of the flourishing Chinese PV market by establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary in Shanghai in March. Already employing 3,250 employees, this new office will have a total of 12 employees working in sales, after-sales (technical support, repair centre) and marketing.
The Austrian company first started its operations in China when it secured a 1MW project in Chongming and set up an agency in the country.
"We fulfil the requirements of the Chinese market spot on. China has a well-developed market for building-integrated photovoltaics. This is a key area in which we specialise, offering a wide range of products. The core market centres around 1 MW projects, for which the specification of our inverters is ideally suited," explains Knut Wimberger, managing director of Fronius China.
Around 95% of Fronius’ products are exported through 17 international Fronius subsidiaries and sales partners/representatives in over 60 countries. In financial year 2010, the company generated a total turnover of €499 million. The company also has 737 active patents.
