GCL-Poly signs 5.2GW supply deal with Canadian Solar

GCL-Poly Energy has signed a long-term supplementary contract with CSI Cells, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, for the supply of wafer and polysilicon products. GCL-Poly will provide Canadian Solar with a total of 5.2GW of wafer and polysilicon products over the next five years.

Under the terms of the contract, GCL-Poly will provide the 5.2GW of wafer and polysilicon products from January 2011 to December 2015. A price adjustment mechanism is included in the contract. The company did not provide the value of the deal.

Shu Hua, executive director and president of GCL-Poly said, “We continuously develop and deepen our long-term strategic partnership with Canadian Solar, one of the world’s leading solar companies. We will honour our commitment of supplying high quality wafer and polysilicon products for Canadian Solar to support its global development strategy, and look forward to achieving a win-win situation with Canadian Solar in the global solar industry.”

The signing of the long-term supplementary supply contract with GCL-Poly further cements the long-term strategic partnership with each other. It will greatly ensure the rapid development of all Canadian Solar’s range of businesses in the future and maintain its global competitive advantage.”

This deal adds to those signed in recent weeks with Solarfun and Trina Solar.
