The coalition of Masdar PV and Gehrlicher Solar has completed a 7.7kWp roof-top installation in Belgium, claimed to be the second of its kind, for French company InnoVent.

Gehrlicher’s GehrTec Intra substructure allowed Masdar PV’s 5.7 m² thin-film solar modules to be fully integrated into the sloping roof of the 19th century barn, creating a completely rain-proof roof system.

“We are proud to have carried out this project with Gehrlicher Solar”, said Dr. Matthias Peschke, COO of Masdar PV. “Following our joint pilot project for a façade-integrated system in Munich, we have once again been able to offer our customer an innovative and aesthetically appealing solution.”

Klaus Gehrlicher, CEO of Gehrlicher Solar, is also very pleased with the latest joint effort: “By using our well-tested substructure in combination with the full-size modules from Masdar PV, we can offer our customers solutions that are even more economical.”

Products from Masdar PV are currently being used in a variety of project planned by InnoVent in southern Africa.

Gehrlicher Solar has recently built its largest PV plant in Spain, whilst continuing its expansion into the US solar market, where it colluded with IKEA, helping the furnishings company increase its presence in the southern US.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.

We also feature one of the world’s largest silicon thin-film PV power plants, Avenal; a report on warnings of the collapse of module prices from Solarbuzz and PI-Berlin presents tips on PV module testing. A print version of this edition will be distributed at Solar Power International 2011 in Dallas, Texas.
