German environment minister Peter Altmaier has predicted new PV capacity in Germany will fall to around half what it was last year.
Addressing a renewable energy conference in Berlin, Altmaier said he expected 4GW of new solar capacity this year, compared to 7.6GW in 2012.

The figure is in line with predictions by analysts and is evidence that the German government’s attempts to get PV growth in Germany under control by reducing feed-in tariffs are bearing fruit.
Because of the reduction in solar FiTs, China is expected to supplant Germany as the biggest PV end market this year.
