Greece added over 38MW of new PV capacity in September, down nearly 100MW on new installations in August.
According to official figures from the Hellenic Transmission System Operator, which runs Greece’s power network, the new capacity took the country’s total at the end of September to almost 1.1GW.
The mainland accounted for most of the new PV capacity, with 37MW being installed. However, the 37MW of new capacity added on the mainland in September was substantially down on the 136MW added in August.
Meanwhile, on Greece’s inter-connected islands, total installed PV capacity reached 107.7MW by the end of September, only marginally up on the August figure of 106MW.
The three mainland regions with the most total installed capacity were Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (184MW), South Aegean (152 MW) and Western Greece (123 MW)., while Crete accounted for over half the islands’ capacity, with 71.4MW installed.
