Betweeen January and August 2012, Greece’s PV capacity doubled to 937MW, according to the latest report from the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator S.A. (HEDNO). This comes amid political and economic turmoil in the country.
The largest PV stations are located in the southern region of Peloponnese with just over 160kW. The south Aegean comes a close second with almost 150kW.
The Hellenic Association of Photovoltaics Companies attributes this to the Greek government’s bold initiatives for the development of residential solar systems, offering not just generous financial incentives but also simplifying the authorization procedures as well.
