Inauguration of Conto Energia V register set for August 20

Owning to July’s communiqué that Italy had reached its €6 billion limit, bringing into force the mooted Conto Energia V, Italian energy agency (GSE) has opened the first six-month register for PV systems over 12kW. The register will open at 9am August 20 and close at midnight on September 18 and capped at €140 million.

To cover administrative costs, developers are required to pay €3 per kW for systems up to 20kW and €2 per kW for systems exceeding 20kW. All applications will be required to be made electronically.

To qualify for the FiT, potential candidates will have to fulfill a long list of criteria:

i) Buildings will have to be able to provide Class D or higher energy performance certificates where the energy performance certificate showing the complete removal of asbestos;

ii) System components have to be made solely within a country that is a member of the EU / EEA;

iii) Plants can be built in the following locations:

  • Contaminated sites, provided that the area of PV modules is not greater than that of the land;
  • Land used by the military;
  • Landfills;
  • Abandoned quarries;
  • Closed mines;

iv) Installations can be built on:

  • Buildings;
  • Greenhouses;
  • Pergolas;
  • Roofs;
  • Bus shelters;

v) Other facilities that meet the requirements of Article 7 of the Decree.

The list will be published on the GSE website within 20 days of the closing date of the registry.
