Indianapolis International Airport is to house what is said to be the largest solar farm at any US airport.
The 12.5MW solar farm was brought to the airport through the partnering of Indianapolis Airport Authority, module manufacturer General Energy Solutions, non-profit Telamon Corporation, renewables product and service provider Johnson Melloh Solutions, inverter manufacturer Solectrica Renewables and solar project developer Cenergy Power.

The airport project will shave approximately 10,700 tonnes from it’s carbon footprint and will generate 12.5 million kWh a year – enough to power more than 1,200 homes.
Power is being sold to utility Indianapolis Power and Light Company, which supplies energy to 470,000 customers in Indiana.
Andrew Goldin, senior vice president of EPC operations for Cenergy Power said the project has gone so well, it should finish ahead of schedule.
