India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has blacklisted two solar firms from participating in any of its programmes for three years.
Kolkata-based firms Emami Power and Oriental Sales Agencies (India) have both been barred from MNRE programmes, which include the National Solar Mission (NSM), India’s flagship strategy to deploy 100GW of solar PV by 2022.

The decision comes after India’s largest utility NTPC, which has tendered significant amounts of capacity under the NSM, informed the MNRE that the two solar firms had been involved in malpractices during the tenders of phase-II of the NSM.
An MNRE spokesman was unable to provide any details of the malpractices.
Mudit Jain, senior manager, consulting at Bridge to India told PV Tech: “Blacklisting firms is not uncommon in government departments in India.”
India recently surpassed 8GW of solar deployment, whcih has largely been driven by the NSM.
