PV module assembly manufacturing consultancy specialist, J.v.G. Thoma is to supply a 70MW turnkey production line to start-up, Renovasol in Brazil. Financial details were not disclosed.
J.v.G. Thoma said it was responsible for the complete toolset as well as certification, training and ramp-up. The module line would also included its J.v.G. desert and tropic process, primarily designed to prevent PID (potential induced degradation) with multicrystalline wafers in extreme climates such as high ambient temperatures and high humidity conditions. Module production is expected to start sometime in 2015.

Thoma and Renovasol will also collaborate in the installation of PV power plants in Brazil.
Renovasol was said to be planning to sell modules across South America, notably to other EPC firms building PV power plants.
“With the help of Renovasol, we can get into Brazil and South America and become an important deliverer of solar modules, play an important role for power plants and off grid solutions – can beat even strong Chinese competition, with a very competitive local production ‘made in Brazil’,” noted Johann von Gott, CEO and owner of Thoma Group.
Brazil has recently completed its first tender for PV power plants, which provides low-cost project finance should the modules meet local content rules.
The company is hoping to roll-out its desert and tropic manufacturing process to more regions, including the US.
