Because of better-than-expected customer orders and product deliveries, JA Solar has increased its shipment estimates for the fourth-quarter and full-year 2009, as well as issuing its guidance for 2010. The Shanghai-based crystalline-silicon solar-cell manufacturer expects 4Q09 shipments to exceed 210MW, compared with its previous estimate of 170-200MW, and FY2009 numbers to surpass 488MW, up from the earlier guidance of 448-478MW.
"Demand has continued to be strong from our existing customers as well as new customers," said Baofang Jin, chairman/CEO of JA Solar. "While we anticipate Q4 2009 to be even stronger than Q3 2009 in terms of shipments, we also expect strong shipments for the full-year 2010 based on robust orders from existing customers and new customer wins."
For 2010, the company says it expects shipments to be in the 750-800MW range.
"We continue to make progress in our global customer development, and are seeing strong demand for our high quality solar products from all major markets, including Germany, China, U.S., Italy, South Korea, Spain, and France," noted Jin. "We also expect strong growth from our newer markets, such as the Czech Republic and Japan."
