US-based solar energy provider Real Goods Solar has appointed Kam Mofid as its new CEO. Mofid replaces the company’s former CEO Bill Yearsley after he decided to leave the organization to pursue other interests. Yearsley has agreed to assist the transition.

Mofid brings to the company a wealth of knowledge and experience in the solar industry. Prior to this appointment, Mofid was the general manager of Global Residential and Light Commerical Systems at SunEdison. Before this role, he was president of Mainstream Energy, the parent company of REC Solar and AEE Solar. During his time at Mainstream Energy, the company was said to achieve substantial growth.
