LDK sells 1MW Apulia plant to Uni Land; plans 20MW of solar plants in Italy

Solar wafer manufacturer LDK Solar has entered into a project development agreement with Italian renewable energy company Uni Land S.p.A. for the construction of 20MW of PV plants throughout 2010 and 2011. LDK also announced that it has sold the 1MW mono-axis Apulia plant to Uni Land for €5 million.

LDK Solar will manage all engineering and construction of the plants, while Uni Land will provide the financing for the project. LDK will also supply the modules for the various plants.

"We are continually expanding LDK Solar's presence in the fast growing Italian market," said Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO of LDK Solar. "This agreement with Uni Land marks another strategic milestone for us as we strengthen our position in the European PV power plants market, and continue to explore new business opportunities."
