    Odersun provides modules for PV pavilion at German university

    Odersun provided its CISCuT thin-film PV modules for a project designed by architects Ortner and Ortner Berlin on the campus of Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Designed as a “live gallery”, the 35 metre long PV pavilion will be used as a space for social events, brainstorming ideas and presentations.

    SunPower completes Tenesol acquisition; deploys over 2,500MW of solar worldwide

    SunPower has now completed the acquisition of BIPV specialist Tenesol from Total, paying out US$165.4 million in cash. Ownership of Total in SunPower will increase to 66% as part of the transaction as Total purchases 18.6 million shares of SunPower common stock in a private placement at US$8.80 per share.

    Following its win at the 2011 Solar Decathlon event, the University of Maryland has found a buyer for its winning entry, WaterShed. Pepco, the electric service provider, has purchased the solar-powered house and will transport the building to one of its facilities in Montgomery County, Maryland where it will act as a ‘living classroom’ to illustrate the clean energy possibilities.

    Orange County, California’s Great Park will play host to the US Department of Energy’s (US DOE) 2013 Solar Decathlon. The Orange County Great Park is a 1,347-acre site on the publicly-owned portion of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, and was selected from a pool of entrants primarily for its emphasis on sustainability and its easy access for visitors.

    It appears Soltecture’s efforts last year to rebrand have been rewarded. The company has partnered with New York-based, altPOWER, to develop BIPV projects in the US. Solecture will be offering its thin-film modules having produced the first 100MW modules last year.

    KYOCERA provides solar power generating system to Republic of Palau’s international airport

    The first grid-connected system in the Republic of Palau is comprised of modules from Kyocera. 1,080 Kyocera 210W solar modules have been supplied to a solar power generating system at Palau international airport, installed on top of the shading structures in the parking lot.

    Dow Solar selects preferred dealers for US distribution of Powerhouse Shingles

    Dow Solar is taking its Powerhouse Solar Shingles to the US, as it has announced that it has named three authorized sellers of its BIPV roofing solution in Colorado. Academy Roofing, B&M Roofing and D&D Roofing will be supplying the solar technology to the homeowners of Colorado, while Dow Solar has plans to roll out the product across the country.

    Soltecture has revamped its solar energy services, going so far as to launch a new brand deign, in order to improve client accessibility. “The focus of our new brand design is our client: they will get a focused overview of our services and portfolio,” explains Soltecture’s CSO Henrik Kruepper. “Through the integration of our system solutions with our range of services, and by renaming our products in less technical terms, we are delighted to give our brand a more focused and clear identity.”

    aleo solar has supplied modules for a 1MW building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system at a farm in Aveyron, France. The rooftop system, which spans seven buildings, is made up of 5,261 aleo S_16 Solrif modules and will generate around 1GWh of electricity a year. Installation of the system was carried out by Eiffage Energie Quercy Rouergue Gevaudan.
