    MAGE Solar appoints two new VPs

    Germany-based MAGE Solar has expanded its management board with the appointment of two new vice presidents. Jan Oliver Kessler has been with the company since 2010 and assumes the role of VP of products and marketing, while Kai Griesenbrock joins the company as VP for quality and purchasing, having departed a similar role at Schott Solar AG earlier this year.

    The Ferro Corporation announced that John Fleischer had been recruited as the new vice president and chief information officer for the company; positions which will see him manage Ferro’s global information technology functions and steer the strategic direction of its information systems. Fleischer comes to Ferro after serving as director and CIO for North American Tire of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.

    Former Q-Cells VP joins merchant bank to head Solar Energy practice

    A former vice president at Q-Cells, Matthias Altieri has joined UK-based merchant bank, ThomasLloyd Group to run its solar energy funding operations as managing director. The appointment was made at the beginning of December, 2011. In his new capacity, Mr Altieri will be responsible for sourcing new business both in the provision of technology and in the sourcing of new development opportunities.

This role will see Beebe work on the investment company’s cleantech portfolio to identify, develop and close energy equipment finance and leasing transactions, with a close focus on the PV market. He has over 20 years of experience in the financing sector, and has been active in the solar industry for several years.

    India’s Prime Minister has appointed Anil Kakodkar as the new head of his government’s solar programme. Kakodkar, who is also a member of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and previously led India’s nuclear programme, was unveiled as chairman of the recently launched Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s speech at the Indian Science Congress.

Bringing over 40-years of experience in electricity generation and the public utility industry, Kelly’s appointment allows for former company chairman John Bryson to depart and fulfill his appointment by President Obama as US Secretary of Commerce.

    Scott Hammond, Christopher Harris join New Energy Technologies

    New Energy Technologies advised that it had appointed Dr. Scott Hammond as principal scientist and Dr. Christopher Harris to its board of advisors. Both Hammond and Harris join New Energy from the US DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), which has been partnering with New Energy through a cooperative research and development agreement for the advancement of the company’s SolarWindow technology.
