LDK Solar’s Xiaofeng Peng, chairman and CEO of the company, was presented with the Future Business Luminary Award at the first Channel NewsAsia (CAN) Luminary Awards. The award is given to individuals in the pan-Asia region under the age of 45 who demonstrate a strong Asian entrepreneurial spirit. Peng is the first to be honored with the Luminary Award.
Magnus Ryde, former chief executive officer and director of DayStar Technologies, has resigned from his positions with the company effective as of February 28 in order to pursue other opportunities. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have led DayStar throughout this past year and am confident that the progress we have made to restructure our balance sheet and in discussions with potential strategic partners have DayStar well positioned for near-term success,” commented Ryde.
Hanwha SolarOne has appointed Raymond Farrell as its Eastern U.S. senior director. Farrell will be responsible for managing distributors and customer support among utility, commercial and residential sectors.
Astronergy has appointed Thomas Heinl as general manager of the company’s Germany-based office. In his new position, Heinl will be responsible for all related business activities including sales, marketing and market strategy in West, North, East and Central Europe.
George Holmes has been appointed the new vice president of worldwide sales at SolarBridge Technologies. Holmes will be able to utilize his background in global sales and strategic partnerships to further develop and manage the company’s worldwide sales.
James Michael “Mike” Williams and Katherine “Kate” Reid Sherwood have been newly appointed by SunLink as the company’s senior vice president of engineering and senior vice president of sales, respectively. “SunLink has expanded its senior management team to help us manage our rapid growth, develop new product lines, and improve our customer service,” said Christopher Tilley, CEO of SunLink. “Both Mike Williams and Kate Sherwood have the experience and drive to help SunLink build out a world-class and scalable organization as the leader in the PV mounting and balance of systems solutions space.”
CPV cell developer Cyrium Technologies has opened its new office in Hong Kong, China and appointed Nelson Fan as its general manager for Asian operations. Fan holds eighteen years of experience in the semiconductor industry, having most recently worked with Traxon Technologies as its research and development director. In his new position with Cyrium Technologies, Fan will be charged with concentrating on the company’s supply chain while detecting technology options and supporting their Chinese and other Asian customers.
Despatch Industries Taiwan has named Dr. Ellen Cheng as its new general manager. Cheng started her role on February 14 and she will be responsible for Despatch’s Solar, Carbon Fiber and Thermal Technology divisions in Taiwan.
Enphase Energy has welcomed Dennis Hollenbeck as its new vice president of engineering; a role that will allow him to combine his 25 years of high-volume, low-cost system design and ASIC development experience and executive management skills.
Solar development and EPC company Premier Power has promoted from within made two changes to its executive team, naming company cofounder Miguel de Anquin to president and Stephen Clevett to COO, the position formerly held by de Anquin.
