Steven Brewer, a 20 year veteran of the large-scale utility industry, has been named Solar Trust of America’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Additionally, Brewer will serve as CEO for Solar Trust’s wholly owned engineering, procurement and construction subsidiary, Solar Trust of America , and be a member of the management board for the company.
HyperSolar has recruited Martin Adams as its new director of technology, where he will be responsible for the design and engineering of the company’s thin optical layer. Adams brings a 35-year background in the advancement of emerging technologies for lighting design and prototyping.
Former CTO, President and founder of SunPower, Dr. Richard Swanson, has been selected as Power-One’s newest member for the company’s board of directors. Swanson began his new position October 29.
The CFO of China Sunergy has left the company. Siegfried Yi Chou Hsu has resigned from his current role for personal reasons, effective Oct. 31. While a search for his replacement has begun, the company named Yongfei Chen as financial controller, who will manage daily financial operations in the interim.
Dyesol has appointed Gavin Tulloch to its board of directors as director of technology. Tulloch, who was previously positioned as managing director for the global market, will assist the company as it prepares for full commercialization of its PV technology.
Wei Chen will be joining Applied Seals North America at its Silicon Valley headquarters as a design engineer. He will focus on meeting the customer’s sealing needs, designing new sealing solutions and finding new market opportunities. Additionally, Chen will be working with Applied’s parent company Gmors in Taiwan, to advance the company’s Perfrez products in the North American semiconductor, PV, pharmaceutical and chemical markets.
As Vern Heinrichs (pictured), the current CEO, retires from his executive position he’s held since 2009, Arise Technologies’ board has chosen his successor in Daniel Shea. The management change is effective as of October 21, with Heinrichs agreeing to be a consultant for the company for three months. In addition, as Heinrichs is also stepping down from his position as director, Shea is to be nominated as his replacement.
The former CEO of Vattenfall Europe, Hans-Juergen Cramer, has been selected as Circadian Solar’s Chairman of the Board. The company is looking to Cramer and his 30-year background in the energy, utility and renewable markets, to help lead the board for Circadian. Before becoming CEO of Vattenfall, Cramer was part of the Bewag Group of utility companies where he had been involved in various management and board positions since 1981.
Morgan Solar has recruited a new member to its executive team in the form of Asif Ansari, the former CEO of eSolar. Ansari will be Morgan’s new chief executive officer and focus on bringing Morgan’s Sun Simba concentrating solar panel to full commercial potential. Ansari is credited with founding several companies and leading the development and commercializing of over 20 technical products in the cleantech and aerospace markets. Aside from the promotion of the Sun Simba, Ansari is also developing a Series-B funding round for Morgan Solar.
Two key executive roles have been assigned at thin-film joint venture, 3Sun. Retaining his position at STMicroelectronics, Andrea Cuomo becomes chairman, while Enel executive, Mauro Curiale, will become 3Sun’s CEO.
