    Solar Universe closes Series B funding with US$7 million and two new executive team members

    Solar Universe has completed its US$7 million Series B funding round, which was led by RockPort Capital Partners and further supported by returning investors. With the funds from the Series B funding round, Solar Universe expects to expand its business into new regions and increase its product offerings. In addition, the company has welcomed Kevin Daughtery as executive vice president of operations and Laurie Anthony Baggio as chief development officer.

He will now be engaged at the Good Energies Foundation in promoting global access to renewable energy sources in order to ease poverty. Brenninkmeijer founded Good Energies in 2001.

    Donald Reilly selected as Evergreen’s new CFO

    Donald W. Reilly has been selected by Evergreen Solar to assume the title and duties of chief financial officer. Paul Kawa has been serving as the interim CFO since September 2010 when Michael El-Hillow was promoted to president and CEO. As Reilly assumes his new CFO role, Kawa will return to his position as Evergreen Solar’s corporate controller.

    Applied Materials has promoted Omkaram “Om” Nalamasu to the position of chief technology officer for the company. Nalamasu, who previously served as deputy CTO, will replace Mark Pinto, who will continue in his role as executive VP/GM of Applied’s Energy and Environmental Solutions (EES) and Display groups.

    SEMI appoints new president for India region

    Debasish Paul Choudhury has been chosen to succeed Sathya Prasad as SEMI’s president as of January 15. Prasad will be leaving the company, but has agreed to contribute his expertise as a member of the SEMI India PV Advisory Committee to help facilitate the management transition. Bringing over 16 years of management, industry information and exposition planning experience to SEMI, Choudhury will manage the development of the company’s programs, committees, products and services in India.
