    Stephen Mullennix named senior VP of operations for SolarReserve

    SolarReserve announced that it had selected Stephen Mullennix as its new senior vice president of operations. Bringing 16 years of experience in the renewable energy and infrastructure industries to his position at SolarReserve, Mulleninx will oversee SolarReserve’s asset management, operations and corporate development. He most recently served as managing director at US Renewables Group, SolarReserve’s founding investment group.

    Former head of European operations at Suntech, David Hogg will resign from the company, effective January 21, 2012 for personal reasons, according to a very brief statement, filed with the SEC in the US. Hogg had been Suntech’s chief operating officer since 2010.

    Paul Peng appointed president of AUO

    AU Optronics (AUO) has appointed Paul Peng as its new president. Peng will start his new role on January 1, 2012 and is replacing Dr. L. J. Chen, who will now serve as AUO’s president of solar business operation. AUO hopes that its management reshuffle will improve the competitiveness of its products and technologies and in turn profitability.

  • Andreas Dill, CEO of Oerlikon, has been appointed a member of the SEMI Advisory Board.

    Andreas R. Dill joins SEMI Europe Advisory Board

    Oerlikon CEO, Andreas Dill has been appointed a member of the SEMI Europe Advisory Board. Dill comes from an engineering background having joined the Swiss company in 1998 and has served in a succession of senior management positions. He is also a board member of Colibrys and Cicor Technology.

    Darryl Nakamoto resigns as Hoku’s chief financial officer

    Darryl Nakamoto has resigned from his position as Hoku’s chief financial officer. Nakamoto, who also served as Hoku’s treasurer and secretary, will remain at the company until March 31, 2012 to help the search for his successor and assist with the transition.

    New additions to Hanwha SolarOne’s management team

    Vertically integrated manufacturer, Hanwha SolarOne, has announced that its board of directors has appointed new members to the company’s senior management. Previous board member Hee Cheol Kim, has been appointed president, where he will oversee the general management of the company, including R&D, sales and marketing. Ki-Joon Hong has been made chairman of the board of directors and CEO to oversee the company’s overall strategy.

  • Jan Stasik has been appointed technical manager of Wagner Solar UK.

    Wagner Solar appoints new technical manager

    Jan Stasik has moved from his post at the parent company Wagner & Co Solar Technology to join the UK technical division. Stasik has been appointed technical manager of the solar PV and solar thermal teams, whilst also leading the training programme at the company’s Wagner Academy solar training school.

  • The latest change includes TK Kallenbach, president of the Components Business Group (CBG), will leaving First Solar effective Jan. 1, 2012 as the company combines its Utility Systems Business Group and Components Business Group under one structure encompassing sales, project development, product management and the customer service and technical services groups.

    There has been a wave of changes at First Solar over the last few months, indicative of the challenging business environment and the return of Mike Ahearn as interim CEO after the ousting of former CEO Rob Gillete. A less than complimentary view of the way the CEO had been running the company was aired by the chairman in the Q3 conference call.

    Westinghouse Solar has expanded its board of director to eight members with the recently announced addition of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mark Kalow. Kennedy is chief prosecuting attorney for Hudson Riverkeeper, president of Waterkeeper Alliance, clinical professor and supervising attorney at Pace University’s School of Law’s Environmental Litigation Clinic and venture partner in and senior advisor to VantagePoint Capital Partners.

  • Robert Yorgensen will be STR Holdings’ new CEO and president.

    Robert Yorgensen to succeed Dennis Jilot as CEO and president of STR Holdings

    Effective January 1, 2012, Robert Yorgensen will be STR Holdings’ new CEO and president. Dennis Jilot, who has served as the company’s CEO since 1997 will be retiring from the positions, but intends to remain as chairman of the board of directors.
