  • Advanced Energy taps Danny Herron as EVP/CFO, replacing Lawrence Firestone

    Advanced Energy Industries has named Danny Herron as its new executive VP and CFO, replacing Lawrence Firestone, who resigned last week. The new hire will start Sept. 1 and will report directly to CEO Hans Betz. Herron has more than 25 years of experience in finance and operations and has spent the past 12 years of his career as CFO for renewable energy and consumer products companies.

  • UMG silicon cell maker Calisolar names Sandra Beach Lin as new CEO

    Calisolar has appointed Sandra Beach Lin as its new CEO, replacing the outgoing Roy Johnson. The company, which says it is shipping a megawatt a week, made the move as the latest step in building the executive team to lead it through its rapid scale-up into a high-volume, low-cost manufacturer of UMG silicon PV cells.

  • Dr. Frank Stubhan becomes new CEO of centrotherm photovoltaics’ thin-film operations

    Having been the managing director and COO at the centrotherm SiTec GmbH subsidiary for the last three years, Frank Stubhan has been appointed CEO of centrotherm photovoltaics AG’s thin film module division, effective Sept. 1. 2010. Stubhan will be responsible for the next phase in the growth of its thin-film offerings,  the company said.

  • Suniva snags solar veteran Gregory Mihalik from SunPower to run PV module operations

    (UPDATE) PV cell manufacturer Suniva has brought solar manufacturing veteran Gregory Mihalik onboard as its new VP of module operations. He will oversee all aspects of module design and manufacturing and will join Suniva’s executive management committee. The hiring move does not signal the firm’s entry into internal, captive panel manufacturing, according to company sources.
