  • Thomas Rohrs joins Skyline Solar as new CEO

    Thomas Rohrs has been appointed by Skyline Solar as the new company CEO and as a member of the company’s board of directors. Bob MacDonald (pictured), Skyline’s co-founder and former CEO, will now serve as the CTO. Rohrs has over 30 years of technology executive management experience, including the past thirteen years as an executive, board member and advisor for companies in the semiconductor, renewable and solar energy industries.

  • Solyndra cofounder Kelly Truman leaves thin-film PV company to head Deeya Energy

    One of the founders of thin-film PV manufacturer Solyndra has left the company to head a green energy storage company. Kelly Truman, the CIGS firm’s former senior VP, will be the new president/CEO of Deeya Energy.

  • SunPower’s CTO awarded IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa medal

    Richard Swanson (pictured), CTO and cofounder of SunPower, is the 2010 recipient of the IEEE Jun-ichi Nishizawa medal, which is sponsored by the Federation of Electric Power Companies, Japan, and the Semiconductor Research Foundation, Japan. The medal was awarded for Swanson’s concept and commercialization of high-efficiency point-contact crystalline-silicon solar cell technology.

  • Solar Frontier Americas chooses industry vet Greg Ashley as VP/COO

    Solar and energy industry vet Gregory Ashley has joined Solar Frontier Americas as VP and COO for the thin-film PV company’s pan-American operations. He will oversee sales and marketing for Solar Frontier in North and South America and will be responsible for commercializing the Tokyo-based firm’s copper-indium-selenide (CIS) technology in those markets. 

  • Jesse Pichel leaves Piper Jaffray for Jefferies: Pichel’s team follows

    Well-known equity research analyst, Jesse Pichel has moved from Piper Jaffray to become Managing Director and Senior Equity Research Analyst covering Clean Technology companies at investment bank, Jefferies. The team he led at Jaffray’s has also followed him to Jefferies, which includes Elaine Kwei, Min Xu and Constance Wang.

  • Bettina Weiss wins 2010 Women in Solar Energy (WISE) Award

    Having been involved in International Standards for ten years at SEMI,  Bettina Weiss, Senior Director, Photovoltaics, SEMI PV Group has been awarded with the 2010 Women in Solar Energy Award at the recent American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Conference, where she also gave a presentation. Bettina first joined the SEMI Europe office in Belgium in 1996.

  • Enfinity Power expands management team with addition of two new executive officers

    Enfinity Power, part of the Enfinity Group, chose Hans De Backer as CEO and Steven De Tollenaere as CEO of Enfinity Group. In addition to CEO of Enfinity Power, de Backer will also be the group’s CFO. Enfinity Power, acting as an independent power producer (IPP), will produce and sell renewable power to customers.

    Public Relations company, Beckerman, has acquired Antenna Group, the   nationally strategic communications firm specializing in serving clean   technology companies and corporations concerned about sustainability.  Antenna Group will retain its current management team, including Melody   Haller, CEO and founder, and Caroline Venza, vice president.
