    Excecutive changes at Nanosolar

    Interim Nanosolar CEO, Geoff Tate has been replaced and returns to retirement, less than 2 years after taking the job, according to a statement from the CIGS thin film start-up. Nanosolar said that another recent management addition, Ms Eugenia Corrales takes over the CEO position. Corrales was said to have been recruited by Tate and had managed all Operations, as well as Engineering, Purchasing and Planning functions.

    PV industry veteran, Joachim Nell has joined power optimization specialist SolarEdge Technologies as its Central European, general manager. Most recently, Nell was a VP of Manz, responsible for its turnkey CIGS thin-film technology. Prior to joining Manz, Nell was senior VP and COO of Masdar PV.

    Robert Prigge has joined the executive team at Clean Power Finance as the senior vice president of worldwide sales. He comes to Clean Power Finance after most recently serving as the VP of global sales and marketing for Sterling Commerce, where he helped with the company’s acquisition by IBM from AT&T. Upon the completion of the acquisition, Prigge was the North American sales leader for IBM’s B2B division.

    Verengo Solar has hired nuclear-power-educated Akiko Koh. She will be responsible for the operational infrastructure growth needed to deliver and support affordable residential solar power to thousands of American homes as Verengo continues to expand throughout California and the East Coast.

    Jörg Henkel selected to lead sales and marketing division of Schott Solar

    Schott Solar advised that effective January 1, Jörg Henkel would lead the sales and marketing division for the company. Henkel comes to Schott from Metabowerken in Nürtingen, where he was VP of global marketing and sales. His past work includes solar and marketing positions with different companies throughout Europe.

    ReneSola appoints new European region president, president of Asia-Pacific region

    Jijun Shi and Stephen Huang have been promoted by ReneSola to new executive positions. Shi will now serve as president of the European region, while Huang, ReneSola’s VP of wafer sales, will lead as president of the Asia-Pacific region. Further, Zhidong Zheng, the company’s VP of wafer technology, was promoted to senior VP while Paul Li, JC Solar president and senior VP of ReneSola has retired. Li plans to continue with the company in a consulting role through to the end of June.

    REC shakes up group management, Wafer, Solar division as part of its move to Singapore and Munich

    Renewable Energy Corporation (REC) advised that its group management sector and wafer and silicon division have seen the addition of new members as it takes its final decentralization steps for its move from Oslo to Singapore and Munich.

    Dr. Philip Comberg takes the helm at Conergy; new CFO, board members appointed

    Changes are afoot at Conergy as chairman of the supervisory board, Dr. Philip Comberg, has been appointed as CEO for one year’s duration, effective immediately. Alexander Gorski’s tenure as COO has been extended to 2014, while Jan Vannerum leaves his role as head of accounting and controlling to take the company’s finances’ reins as CFO, replacing Dr. Sebastian Biedenkopf who resigned in October.

    Solarschmiede continues plans for expansion

    Software company, Solarschmiede, is expanding this month, having hired three new managing directors. Rudi Haas will be taking over the engineering department. Solarschmeide says he was instrumental in setting up the department in the last few years. Harald Zeich who was previously active as a developer and project leader at the company. His department develops individual software and license programmes to plan solar energy systems. Finally, Felix Schneider, sales director of the Munich-based company since 2009, will become head of management and thus stands shoulder-to-shoulder between the software and engineering departments. The new management has long-term experience from both photovoltaics and software development.

    The tragic death of Amonix CEO Brian Robertson late last year has led to Jan van Dokkum, an executive with venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, becoming interim CEO of the concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar systems company. The Board of Directors at Amonix said it had enlisted an executive search firm and has established a search committee for the selection and appointment of a new CEO.
