Aqua America has finished its fourth solar array at one of its own water treatment facilities in Pennsylvania, this time completing a 1.5MW solar farm at its Pickering water treatment plant in Schuylkill Township, Chester County. Constructed across 6.5 acres, the solar array will help power the company’s largest water treatment facility and reduce the company’s grid-tied usage by 2.2 million kW annually.
The Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, has a new 1.65MW PV array on its rooftop, which is powered in part by Solectria Renewables’ SmartGrid inverters. The project is said to be the largest rooftop installation in Utah, with Bella Energy acting as its engineering, procurement and construction manager. Solectria’s SGI500 and 300 commercial and utility-scale inverters were chosen for the project, which is expected to generate around 2.4MWH of solar energy per year.
California’s Vote Solar Initiative advised that January saw a record amount of homes and business in the state going solar. According to the initiative, January saw 42.4MW of behind-the-meter solar installed, which is the largest amount in the history of the California Solar Initiative program. Additionally, 49.5MW of incentive applications were received, and while that number doesn’t mark a record, it is said to be higher than normal.
Chinese Powerway Renewable Energy and Japanese West Holding have partnered to construct a 2MW capacity installation in Japan to fill the nuclear gap. West Holding will provide the investment and Powerway will design and construct the plant using its PowerScrew foundations and mounting structure products.
