Last summer, Conergy updated its PowerPlus modules with improved warranties. Effective, February 1, Conergy has again refreshed its PowerPlus modules, christening it PremiumPlus. The company has promised “these represent not an empty but a fair promise made to the customer”.
Moving up a spot from its second place finish in 2010, REC Solar’s modules have been ranked first in Photon Laboratory’s 2011 module field performance test by generating 6% more energy than competing modules. The yearlong comparative study measured how many kilowatt hours of electricity a module generates throughout one year in real life conditions. Two modules from each supplier were tested at Photon’s Germany location.
The sleeping giant has finally awoken, according to the latest report from NPD Solarbuzz as PV installations in China reached 2.9GW in 2011, a massive 500% increase over 2010. The Asia Pacific region as a whole saw demand increase 165% year-on-year, reaching a total of 6GW. Like Germany, NPD Solarbuzz noted that 2.8GW of installations in the region were installed in the fourth quarter alone.
Continued restructuring, inventory sell-off and higher than expected price declines in the fourth quarter, further impacted fourth quarter and full-year financial results at Conergy. Preliminary revenue results were reported to have reached €755 million in 2011 but losses are expected to be in the range of €80-€85 million, higher than previously guided losses of €50 to €55 million. Operating cash flow was said to be positive in the fourth quarter.
Solarwatt advised that its P210, M220, M250, M180 and M200 series solar modules had passed snow load testing, which saw the modules withstanding extreme snow loads, which are not uncommon in the high Alpine regions. The mechanical load tests were completed at the company’s VDE-certified laboratory based on IEC 61215 and DIN 1055 standards.
PowerGuard Specialty Insurance Services advised that Lightway Green New Energy has adopted the company’s PowerClip extended warranty protection. The insurance, developed and underwritten by PowerGuard, offers back-to-back coverage for a 10-year materials and workmanship warranty. Furthermore, it includes a linear power performance guarantee over a 25-year period for panels sold by Lightway and covered by the warranty.
Having launched its fast-track module mounting system in Europe and the US last year, Trina Solar has said that the first European project to use the innovative system was recently completed in Cumbria, UK.
TÜV Rheinland has confirmed that Yingli Green Energy’s multicrystalline and monocrystalline PV modules have completed the carbon footprint lifecycle assessment according to international carbon footprint standard PAS 2050:2011. The companies advised that Yingli is the first company in the global PV sector to obtain Product Carbon Footprint Verification from TÜV Rheinland, which maintains that the carbon dioxide emitted during Yingli’s manufacturing phase is significantly less than that, which would be released during a 25-year usage phase.
ET Solar Group has announced it has entered into a 6MW PV module supply agreement with LARIVIERE, a distributor of roofing products in France.
