Lixil Corporation, a Japanese building materials supplier, is planning to construct a 6.35MW PV facility in the city of Sukagawa, in the prefecture of Fukushima, Japan.

The system will be constructed on 9,104 square metres of land which forms part of the property of an unused factory. Construction is expected to commence in spring 2013 and is slated to become operational in spring 2014.

When complete, it will generate an estimated 7,800 MWh of electricity every year. Electricity generated by the system will be sold to Tohoku Electric Power Co. under a power purchase agreement.

The project will also involve constructing an observation deck in order to educate visitors on renewable energy.
