Matheson Tri-Gas to distribute CIGS sputtering targets and materials for Pioneer Materials

A global exclusive distribution agreement has been signed between Pioneer Materials and Matheson Tri-Gas that will enable Pioneer Materials to concentrate on production and product development of its range of CIGS (copper indium gallium selenium), CIS (copper indium di-sulphide) and other related thin-film compounds, while the speciality materials producer and distributor handles sales, distribution, and customer services.

“Combined with our hydrogen selenide offering produced at our New Johnsonville facility in TN, this partnership with Pioneer Materials will position Matheson Tri-Gas as the leading and comprehensive material supplier for the CIGS photovoltaic cell manufacturing process,” noted Kevin Finn, executive VP, Electronics and Solar, Matheson Tri-Gas. “We are very pleased to access the expertise of Pioneer Materials in specialty compound formation, its world-class manufacturing operations in Chengdu, China, and its knowledgeable technical support capability of their team.”

Pioneer Materials is well-positioned to be a global source of key compounds required for clean energy applications with access to critical raw materials, processing expertise, and now a distribution footprint,” stated Leon Chiu, president of Pioneer Materials.

Pioneer Materials has a production facility located in Chengdu, China West Hi-Tech Development Zone, which was designed to achieve overall capacity of 1000 sputtering targets a month for targets used across a wide spectrum of applications.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
