Nautilus Solar Energy, a solar power producer headquartered in New Jersey, US, has started commercial operation of its 1.9MW rooftop PV system in Chino, California, US. Output generated by the system is being sold to Southern California Edison as part of a power purchase agreement.
"We are pleased to bring on line another solar project in the State of California and help move the state closer to its Renewable Portfolio Standard goals," said James Rice, CEO of Nautilus Solar. "Nautilus Solar continues to be active in the California market and we are expanding our presence through a combination of greenfield development and project acquisitions."
California is one of the most active states in the US in terms of solar activity. Recently, the US government announced plans to accelerate the approval of the 150MW Desert Harvest and NextEra Energy’s 750MW McCoy solar projects in California. At the start of the month, First Solar also announced plans to build a 139MW thin-film PV solar project in the state.
