Oerlikon Solar has received the first orders for its latest line of thin-film silicon module production equipment, ThinFab. Two clients have submitted orders for the new range, which Oerlikon claims lowers cost of ownership to an industry-leading €0.50/Wp and reduces the energy payback time.

"The new equipment orders demonstrate the high interest of our customers and the entire solar market in our cost-leading and clean technology," said Helmut Frankenberger, CEO of Oerlikon Solar.

"We are very pleased with the development of our sales pipeline. The likelihood that we can close a first order for a complete ThinFab production line in the first half of 2011 has risen significantly," said Peter Tinner, Oerlikon Solar’s global head of sales and marketing.

"With the ThinFab we are offering a very competitive production line for real environmental friendly solar modules”, added Michael Buscher, group CEO of Oerlikon. "Since Oerlikon Solar has recaptured the cost and technology leadership within the solar market, we are fully focused on concluding further contracts.”

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
