Major renewable energy firm, SunEdison is to officially cut its global workforce by 15%, according to an SEC filing.
The company stated that the “restructuring”, would incur total charges of approximately US$30 million to US$40 million, which would be recorded in its third quarter through the first quarter 2016 financial period.

The charges would consist of severance and other benefits to employees that would ultimately end in the fourth quarter of 2016.
SunEdison last revealed its global headcount in its 2014 annual report that stated it employed a total of around 7,260 people at the end of the year, making it difficult to gauge its headcount figure since full absorption of its many acquisitions but at least over 1,000 jobs would be lost.
