Order Focus: aleo solar to supply 5MW of PV modules to Grupo Desmex for Mexican projects

Aleo solar has signed a supply contract with the Mexican installation company Grupo Desmex to provide 5MW of crystalline-silicon photovoltaic modules and other balance-of-systems gear by the end of the year.

"Given that we already delivered two rooftop systems with a total output of 375KW to the Desmex Group, expanding our partnership is a logical step," said aleo executive VP Robert Schwarzinger. "Our first project from this frame contract is rated at 1000KW (1MW), for which we will soon be supplying modules, inverters, and a tracker mounting system."

The companies say that the high yields of aleo's PV power plants already installed in Mexico have surpassed expectations. Last year, a 174KW rooftop system in Aguascalientes produced 1,822 kilowatt-hours per kilowatt of rated output.

"The plant's yields are about 20% higher than expected," said Desmex managing director John von Frantzius. "Aleo modules enable us to offer our customers particularly profitable systems."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The solar company expanded its presence in the North American PV market in 2009, coordinating business in the core markets of the United States, Mexico, and Canada from its sales headquarters in Westminster, CO.
