Ambitious plans are unfolding with respect to Korean-based PV manufacturer, GETWATT the energy division of KISCO. According to 3S Swiss Solar Systems, a subsidiary of Meyer Burger Technology, GETWATT is expected to start crystalline solar module production on one its 65MW ‘Modultec’ lines by the spring of 2011 near Seoul. GETWATT was said to already have plans to expand production to 240MW, though timelines were not provided. The entire capital equipment from 3S will be shipped before the end of this year.
“Our corporate philosophy is to offer products of the highest quality to our customers. The tender from 3S won us over, as it will enable us to achieve first-class product quality here whilst at the same time receiving intensive on-site support from experienced specialists,” noted Byung-Je Lee, COO of GETWATT.
The production line was sold in conjunction with a comprehensive range of services that included know-how transfer, an on-site training package and guaranteed certification of the modules made on the production line, which 3S organisesin collaboration with TÜV Rheinland. All aspects are designed to bring product to market quicker.
The Modultec line consists of an automated string soldering system from Somont, a laminating line from 3S Modultec and a module tester from Pasan.
