Order Focus: Schott Solar supplies 16.9MWp of PV modules to Phoenix Solar projects in Thailand
Schott Solar has received a PV module order to supply a pair of projects in Thailand with a cumulative capacity of 16.9MWp. The 9.7MW and 6.2MW sites, located north of Bangkok, are being built by Phoenix Solar Singapore and are scheduled to be completed and activated by the end of the year.
In June, Schott began supplying the first of the 67,000 of its Perform Poly 2xx series polycrystalline-silicon modules on order and should complete wrap up shipments in September.
The projects are expected to supply about 25GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the needs of as many as 10,000 Thai households.
Phoenix Solar's Singapore subsidiary is responsible for planning the installations, including the delivery of modules and inverters. The investor, Solarta, is a joint venture between Yanhee Solar Power and the independent power supplier, Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
"We have signed contracts to supply modules with a capacity in excess of 50MWp for large international projects over the last few months,” said Martin Heming, CEO of Schott Solar. “Our local presence in the international markets and previous experience in managing large projects were both crucial factors in convincing our partner to choose us.”
“Know-how in the project business and an international sales network are becoming increasingly important," he continued. "The diversification and internationalization of Schott Solar outside its core markets fits into this picture just perfectly.”
