Keeping in stride with its international growth, Petra Solar will be launching a pilot program at the Magnetic Island Solar Suburb initiative, spearheaded by Ergon Energy, in Australia. Part of the Townsville Queensland Solar City project, the Magnetic Island initiative sees Ergon Energy focusing on the reducing peak demand and electricity usage while diminishing greenhouse gas emissions to save customers money and put off network investment. Petra Solar’s project will use its SunWave Energy Solution on three different rooftops on Magnetic Island and grant Ergon Energy access to evaluate the installations energy productions, grid monitoring and reliability of its product.

“Electricity distribution networks are facing increasing challenges as the prevalence of distributed generation, particularly solar photovoltaic systems, increases. Ergon Energy is trialing the Smart Grid capabilities of the Petra Solar SunWave system to manage voltage rise problems created by PV systems,” said Glenn Walden, general manager of emerging opportunities at Ergon Energy.
