German PV systems integrator Phoenix Solar has announced plans to build a 4.2MW solar park on a former military site in the district of Jerichower Land in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt.
Phoenix Solar supported the unnamed project owner during the development stage and will now be responsible for the planning, delivery and construction of the solar park.

During the construction, the company will install approximately 18,000 crystalline PV modules and inverters on seven hectares of land. The inverters will be supplied by SMA, a specialist in the manufacture of inverters and PV monitoring systems.
Furthermore, under the Conservation Act of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt, the company must implement a number of “compensatory measures” during the construction of the project. Such measures include the development and maintenance of a wet, species-poor fallow meadow covering an area of 13,000 square metres and the installation of nesting boxes for bats.
Phoenix Solar and the investor are aiming to complete the project in January 2013.
