Phono Solar, a global renewable energy solutions manufacturer, and Electrasol Proiect, a photovoltaic system manufacturer and developer, have announced the completion of a 500 KW installation in the Galati region of Romania.
The Phono Solar 195W monocrystalline modules used will generate electricity to power approximately 1,250 average Romanian homes, or will displace the equivalent of 614.07 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
PV-Tech is told the installation took place in the Galati county in Romania, an area which receives (on an inclined surface of 35°) total annual radiation levels of 1,634kWh/m2.

The Galati county is an area that could potentially generate vast amounts of energy through PV technology. Suciu Alexandru, General Manager of Electrasol Proiect, said: “We are more than happy to have worked with Phono Solar since the Romanian photovoltaic market began offering incentives in November 2011. The installation in Galati is just one of a number of projects completed through our partnership in 2012 that will displace CO2 emissions by close to 700 tons per year.”
Earlier this year Phono Solar announced it had joined forces with Enphase Energy for a strategic partnership on the development of micro-inverter-based AC modules that will be marketed in the US and UK over the next few years. The project is aiming at over 40MW in sales.
