Photowatt Ontario, a subsidiary of ATS Automation Tooling Systems (ATS) was joined by government and community officials as it held a ceremony to officially commission its 500kW rooftop PV system on the City of Kitchener’s new consolidated maintenance facility. Covering over 70,000 square feet, the project uses 2,660 solar modules.

In addition to manufacturing the solar modules at ATS’s Cambridge, Ontario campus, Photowatt Ontario developed the solar system and oversaw its design, installation and the monitoring systems for the solar array.

"This project is an important example of the progression of solar energy use and development in Ontario," said Anthony Caputo, president and CEO of ATS. "The Green Energy Act, feed-in tariff program and domestic content goals have provided an excellent foundation for both ATS and Photowatt Ontario employees to use our industry leading skills to serve the growing demand for solar modules and systems in our home market."
