Thirty-one of Power-One’s Aurora PVI-12.5-Tl-FS inverters have been delivered for use at a new PV test facility at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands. The 400kW installation was provided by Solartechno, in cooperation with The Grounds, a platform for innovative applications for sustainable airports.
The companies state that the installation should be connected to the grid soon, with modules supplied by Scheuten. The installation, which is expected to provide 440,000kWh of energy a year, is a trial program to study how future large-scale PV plants could be implemented at the airport.
“Schiphol airport wants to become carbon neutral by the end of 2012. At Solartechno, we are proud to contribute to this goal of economical and efficient energy management,” said Marco Ghirardello, Solartechno. “To realize this project, we decided to implement Power-One inverters as they convinced us by their price/performance-ratio. Moreover, they allow for easy as well as quick installation and maintenance.”
