Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), a European supplier of PV modules, has completed the construction of a 4MW solar project in Greece for EuroEnergy, a renewable energy investment firm and a subsidiary of Libra Group.

Project owner EuroEnergy began working with REC in February 2012 while the project commenced in July. Just one month later, the project was finalized. The project consists of two MW-scale plants located in Argolida province which is 120 kilometres from Athens. According to the business development manager UK for REC Solar, Pierre Cesbron, the project was completed “in record time”.

Cesbron added, “We expect the plant to operate efficiently for more than twenty years. It is a great achievement given the mountainous terrain and the challenges involved in reaching the site. As always, we are committed to providing award-winning solar modules to our partners and to ensuring the highest standards of service.”

The plants, which each occupy almost 100,000 square metres of land, are equipped with 10,680 REC Peak Energy 240 W modules and 4,600 REC Peak Energy 250 modules. REC provides a 25-year warranty service on all the modules. According to Photon Laboratory’s 2011 module field performance test, REC modules provide on average 6% more energy than other rival modules as well as an energy payback time of one year.

Together, the plants are expected to generate 5,500 MWh every year.
