Solar module materials companies Momentive and Targray team on distribution

Two material suppliers to the photovoltaics module manufacturing market, Momentive Performance Materials and Targray Technology International have signed an agreement, whereby Targray will distribute Momentive’s silicone potting, sealing and adhesive products on a global basis. The deal also includes co-branding of Momentive’s products for Solar Applications.

Shin, global marketing director, Engineered Materials, Momentive. “Targray has a high degree of expertise in serving the needs of the solar industry, with a global sales approach and strong technical capabilities. The collaboration between Momentive and Targray will contribute globally to our customers’ productivity while delivering superior service in a fast-growing industry segment.”

Targray is a dedicated supplier to the PV industry, unlike Momentive, which supply’s a wide-range of industries with silicone and other products.

“Momentive’s potting, sealing and adhesive solutions provide best-in-class performance in terms of field durability and manufacturing process requirements, and we’re very excited about the tremendous value these products will bring to customers in the critical sealing and potting applications,” stated Dan Murray, Targray Vice-President. “We see great synergy between Targray’s intimate knowledge of the photovoltaic industry and Momentive’s ability to drive new silicone technologies.”

Momentive materials are used for the fabrication of PV modules, including thermally conductive adhesives and potting, junction box potting and sealing, and solar panel and frame sealing.
