Hamburg-based Conergy has signed a contract for the construction of a further 20 solar power plants in Greece. The 32MW framework agreement, which is the largest to date in the country, will be completed in partnership with a local investor. Dieter Schmitt, the head of Conergy Greece said, "In terms of maintaining and expanding our market leadership in Greece, this is the most important milestone to date."
"I am particularly pleased that we will be equipping the power plants almost exclusively with our own Conergy system technology, i.e. with Conergy PowerPlus modules, Conergy IPG inverters, and Conergy mounting systems from our own production. This is clear proof of the quality awareness of our Greek customers," continued Schmitt.
The company is currently awaiting approval for the 20 projects, which will each be between one and four megawatts. Many of the production licenses are already on hand for all planned parks and the last permits are expected shortly. Conergy is expected to begin construction activities as general contractor for all parks by the beginning of the second quarter of 2011. After a maximum construction period of 18 months, all solar parks are expected to be connected to the public grid.
