juwi solar has begun construction on two large-scale PV installations in the U.S. Following the successful completion of the New Jersey-based 2.2MW for the Mars Snackfood headquarters, juwi has started on the two new projects: one (12MW) in Upper Sandusky, Ohio; the other (15MW) in Jacksonville, Florida. Both projects are scheduled for completion by summer 2010.
The three projects—2.2MW in New Jersey; 12MW in Ohio and 15MW in Florida—will see the installation of 380,000 of First Solar’s CdTe thin-film panels and will incur a combined estimated project cost of US$100 million.
The 12MW Wyandot Solar Energy Generation Facility plant in Ohio will generate approximately 15.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity per annum, which will be purchased by AEP Ohio over a 20-year period. Municipal utility JEA will purchase all of the output of the 15MW plant in Jacksonville, Florida for a 30-year period.
PSEG Solar Source LLC acquired JSI’s ownership rights to the Ohio and Florida project companies in a transaction in September 2009, including its rights under the power purchase agreements with AEP in Ohio and JEA in Florida.
