Recurrent Energy and Southern California Edison have signed a deal in which the utility has agreed to purchase 100% of the power generated by three solar photovoltaic projects being developed by Recurrent.
The power systems, to be built and operated by Recurrent and located in Kern and San Bernardino counties, will have a combined peak output of 50MW (DC).
The two ground-mounted PV installations in Kern County (6MW and 22 MW) and the other in San Bernardino County (22MW) will be located on private land leased by Recurrent.
Construction is expected to begin in 2012 and be completed in early 2013, according to the company.
Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
“These projects are a great example of the potential for distributed-scale solar to deliver significant quantities of power in relatively short time-frames,” said Arno Harris, CEO of Recurrent Energy. “Distributed-scale solar has an important role to play in helping to meet near-term renewable energy goals."
Recurrent says it has a pipeline of more than 1000MW of distributed-scale solar projects under development in North America and Europe.
