Project Focus: Solis Partners installs another Solyndra PV system on Foodtown supermarket rooftop

Solar systems integrator Solis Partners has completed the fourth of six installations for Norkus Enterprises, operator of Foodtown supermarkets in Monmouth and Ocean counties in New Jersey. The combined system features Solyndra's CIGS PV panels and will be reportedly one of the largest installations of the thin-film company's tubular-module-based products in the United States.

The Manasquan, NJ-based PV developer designed, engineered, and constructed the systems, which consist of approximately 2700 Solyndra panels, with an estimated installed capacity of more than 480KW (DC), based on a 178W rating per panel. The combined system will produce over 600,000 kWh of electricity, according to Solis.

The specified roof design, preparation, and installation required prior to the solar deployment were done by Perth Amboy-based L.R. Watts & Sons Roofing.

The nonpenetrating system’s ability to cover more rooftop area and capture more light than traditional flat-plated panels will result in more annual solar electricity generation and will provide clean, low-cost power for more than 25 years, according to Solis, which says it is one of the leading integrators of Solyndra PV panels in the U.S.
