Further to the news earlier this week that Etrion has acquired the final tranche of SunPower's 33MW Montalto plant, the two companies have signed an agreement to build two further solar power plants, totaling 10MW, in the Puglia region of Italy. SunPower will design and construct the plants, as well as providing operations and maintenance services for Etrion, which will own the system.

"The two 5MW sites in Brindisi and Mesagne are part of our internal portfolio and once again demonstrate our team's development and execution capability. Solar is a clean, silent, renewable source of energy that is becoming an increasingly valuable and necessary part of the world's energy mix."

Construction of the plant is expected to begin by the end of November 2010.
