Project Focus: SunWize division wins >$7.8M in solar contracts from U.S. Veteran Affairs department

SunWize Technologies' commercial power systems division has won solar power contracts exceeding $7.8 million by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. The company said that the contracts consist of 10 hospital projects that call for more than 1.1MW of photovoltaic systems, ranging in size from <50KW to >400KW, to be installed in locations across the United States and one of its overseas territories.

The diverse set of rooftop and carport systems will be located on VA facilities from the East Coast to the South Pacific, including Albany, Buffalo, and Syracuse, NY; Cheyenne, WY; Phoenix, AZ; two systems in Sacramento, CA; Vallejo, CA; Honolulu, HI; and Pago Pago, American Samoa.

All of the PV power plants will use high-efficiency Sanyo 210W N-Series modules coupled with either Satcon or Fronius inverters, according to SunWize. Construction of the projects is slated to begin early this year.

The new projects represent the latest collaboration between SunWize and the federal agency. Other systems recently designed and installed by the company on VA facilites include a 337KW rooftop array on the VA’s Dallas Medical Center and a 309KW installation on the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA.
