The leading dedicated solar website PV Tech and sister downstream technical journal, PV Tech Power are to carry out a major survey in cooperation with DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions to assess the current state of the global photovoltaic (PV) market as it relates to quality, reliability and durability of PV modules.

The survey, accessible on PV Tech’s international website as well as UK dedicated sister site, Solar Power Portal UK is targeting crystalline silicon (c-Si) module installations in the field, carried out by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms; installers of ground and rooftop systems; project developers and utility companies active in PV.

Importantly, the survey responses would remain anonymous and aggregated with those of all other respondents.

However, key findings and trends will be published in the September 2015 edition of PV Tech Power and highlighted in feature stories on PV Tech and Solar Power Portal UK to provide transparency and the broadest reach possible for all interested parties.

All survey participants will also be offered the mailing of a free copy of the September 2015 edition of PV Tech Power, featuring the survey results.

The recent rapid global growth of PV installations that reached over 40GW in 2014 has also led to significant module ASP declines of over 70% in the last five years, while manufacturing cost reduction strategies failed to keep pace.

Recent and regular reports highlighting issues with PV module quality, reliability and durability are believed to be a consequence of the challenges the PV industry has faced in recent years.

The survey of PV module quality, reliability and durability is intended to provide an understanding and insight into current PV module procurement and specification procedures. It is also intended to offer insight into risk mitigation and best practices that are intended to benefit the complete supply chain.
