Q-Cells sheds some light on the talks in Copenhagen

Q-Cells has been lighting up the streets of Copenhagen during the Climate Change talks these last two weeks with its modules integrated into solar powered streetlamps. The lamps are being used to light up the car parks and outdoor areas at the Bella Center, which is hosting the talks.

The streetlamps have been built by Scotia from Denmark and use only half the power produced by the solar cells, the surplus energy is fed back directly into the grid. The invention is by British lighting artist Steven Scott, who approached Q-Cells back in March 2009.

Q-Cells' technology was chosen to counteract the lack of light in northern latitudes at this time of year, as the cells have a proven performance in low-light conditions. The modules used have been fitted with the Q6LMX - a new square monocrystalline 6" solar cell.
