Chile-based PV developer Verano Capital has requested an environmental permit to build a 93MW solar power project in the Santiago Metropolitan Region of Chile.
The Samantha Solar Park project, requiring around US$160 million investment, would involve the installation of 295,963 PV modules on trackers, with the energy produced to be injected into the grid.

The estimated start of construction is early 2016, and the project lifetime is deemed to be 30 years.
The plant will be located in the commune of Til-Til, Chacabuco Province, with solar irradiance levels of around 2,100kWh per m2.
One of the project aims is to help meet the growing energy demand of the network in the region.
Chile installed 16MW of solar PV in June this with operational capacity now standing at 553MW, up from 537MW the previous month.
