Satcon inverters to power Orange County Convention Center

Boasting the title of the largest solar energy rooftop in the southeastern U.S., the Orange County Convention Center has been fitted with four of Satcon’s 250kW PowerGate Plus inverters. The 200,000 square-foot rooftop PV system, designed and built by Johnson Controls, Inc., will generate 1.1MWp per annum, or approximately 1.1 million kWh.

“The Orange County Convention Center installation continues to set the standard for clean, utility grade energy in North America,” said Pete DeGraff, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Satcon. “The project showcases both Orange County’s and the state of Florida’s commitment to solar energy as a reliable source of power to supply their energy demands. We applaud their innovation and are honored to be a part of this world class team of industry leaders.”

Satcon has seen some healthy order wins in the past few months, from the 40MW order received from Siliken in December to the three-year 330MW deal with Ecostream in April.

    Photovoltaics International 16th Edition

This sixteenth edition of Photovoltaics International marks four years of production of the quarterly journal. As always, our focus is on efficiency and quality improvement and cost reduction in manufacturing. As 2012 rolls along, companies are falling by the wayside due to supply and demand issues, ASP declines and drastic governmental subsidy cuts. A clear picture of 2012 is offered through papers from the likes of TÜV Rheinland, Fraunhofer ISE, SEMI PV Group and EPIA, amongst others.
